Eoghan is a professionally registered building services engineer with over 15 years experience in design and building energy simulation. With a unique perspective on HVAC design, design build and energy modeling, Eoghan understands more than just how a building should behave theoretically. To date, Eoghan has achieved significant energy and cost savings using energy modeling software as a design tool. His mechanical experience covers a wide range of projects including commercial, institutional, and residential.
Eoghan has gained high-level experience from his involvement in projects across North America, Europe and the Middle East. Involvement in such complex projects has given him an in-depth understanding of the integration of engineering and energy which is essential to delivering high performance and cost-effective design solutions. He is proactive in following energy sustainability practices across the world to seek out progressive technologies and strategies that he can incorporate into his projects. He is currently co-chairman of IBPSA Canada – BC chapter.

David Horan is a qualified building services engineer with over 15 years of experience in the design and verification of building systems. Through his extensive work in the commissioning industry, David has gained a unique understanding of the process required to successfully transition a building from the design stage through construction to operation. He has developed and sharpened his expertise while working on a wide range of projects including commercial, residential, healthcare, and government facilities. David is committed to achieving energy efficiency in buildings by ensuring systems are operating as per the design intent.
He is a certified measurement and verification professional and a member of the association of energy engineers.

Donal is a qualified energy engineer with a range of experience focused on energy efficiency, energy saving opportunities and GHG emission reductions. He has past experience working with large manufacturing facilities. His work in this sector primarily targeted the implementation of projects to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and achieve quantifiable GHG emission reductions. Through the competition of numerous projects on large utility systems, Donal has developed a detailed understanding of how building utility systems operate and interact with one another. Donal’s work at Edge Consultants is mainly focused on preparing building energy models for a range of building types. In this role, he enables project teams to meet required energy performance and GHG emission targets. The final output of completing the energy models is often to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.
Through this work, Donal has developed an in-depth knowledge of various codes, standards and guidelines related to sustainability.

Our not-so-recent addition, Anu comes from a Construction Management background. With a passion for the environment, she switched careers early on to Building Sustainability and Environmental Sciences. A LEED AP BD+C, her experience as a Sustainability Coordinator enabled her to gain a strong knowledge of different building systems and their interdependencies. With a project portfolio ranging across building sectors, she has developed a strong reputation for executing project management & design duties to achieve stringent sustainability goals & targets both in design and on-site.
At Edge, Anu continues the good work with a couple of LEED projects focusing on Healthcare and provides energy consulting services for new construction & existing building retrofits. Her specialty in energy modeling includes code compliance such as California BEES Title 24, Vancouver Building Bylaw Section 10, BC Energy Step Code & ASHRAE 90.1-2016.

Afsaneh is a well-rounded project management and digital marketing professional with diverse and local experience in the tech, health care, and digital media industries. She has past experience co-founding and managing her own graphic design and marketing company. Her career crosses the globe from the Middle East, and Australia to Canada. Her international background primarily targeted the implementation of long and short term digital strategies, as well as building successful project teams based on the professional discipline of process-driven and risk-assessed management.
At Edge Consultants, Afsaneh is mainly focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content online. In addition to CRM marketing, in this role, she is responsible for creating the proposals and writing a response to RFPs. Through this work, Afsaneh has developed an in-depth knowledge of various codes, standards and guidelines related to sustainability.

Senior Project & Marketing Manager
Marina holds a Chemical & Process Engineering degree and has experience working on a range of sustainable and energy related projects. As a Project Manager at an Irish Utility Company, Marina worked on business case development for sustainable projects with the goal of future proofing the business. Through this work Marina came to realize she had a specific interest in what it meant to be “sustainable” in the built environment and decided to pursue this as a career path. Working as an Energy Coordinator in Vancouver’s Real Estate sector, Marina worked on Residential, Commercial & Hospitality projects throughout the building lifecycle — from design through to construction and operations. This experience enabled Marina to gain deeper understanding of building systems and their processes.
At Edge Consultants, Marina’s work is mainly focused on energy modelling & building performance analysis for various building types, as well as LEED certification projects. She works with integrated design teams to identify appropriate design strategies geared towards improving energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort throughout building project duration.

Rachelle, a recent addition to our team, holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering from Carleton University focusing on structural design, green buildings, and heritage preservation. Through her education, Rachelle became passionate about sustainability and occupant wellbeing in the built environment.
Rachelle comes from the non-profit housing sector and brings experience providing energy audits, energy benchmarking, and project coordination for building retrofits. Her project support enabled non-profits to benefit from available funding programs and implement low carbon and energy-efficient measures. This experience allowed Rachelle to gain a deeper understanding of building systems and improve occupant comfort, particularly in multifamily residential buildings.
At Edge, Rachelle’s work as a Sustainability Coordinator is focused on providing LEED executive and sustainable design project support. She works with integrated project teams to realize sustainable design goals and achieve LEED certification for various building types.

Maira holds a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Engineering from the University of British Columbia, a program she leveraged in order to build a strong background in both mechanical and civil engineering and orient her career towards resilient buildings. Throughout her degree, she took an interest in building systems and sustainability – as part of the Third Quadrant Design Team at UBC, she helped integrate passive cooling into a mixed-mode ventilation system and researched innovative, low-carbon materials for a new building on campus. Throughout various internships, Maira has gained experience with the use of novel sustainability-oriented technologies, as well as team collaboration and mechanical design experience.
At Edge, Maira’s work is focused on energy modelling and building performance analysis for a variety of building types and project scopes. She works with multi-disciplinary teams to identify appropriate strategies to increase energy efficiency based on client targets and relevant standards.

Junior Building Performance Consultant
Élise holds a master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering from the National University of Ireland – Galway, with a multi-disciplinary academic background covering the fundamentals of thermal energy engineering, renewable technologies, and environmental impacts. She contributed to Research on the feasibility of providing space heating with ground-source heat pumps in different climates for the development of passive houses. Later in her studies, she looked at circular opportunities for the future of wind turbine blades by integrating new composite materials and their impacts on the national Irish electricity grid, as part of the European Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP).
Today, she chose to focus on the built environment as she views the huge potential in improving building energy efficiency; both for human health and the environment in reducing the carbon footprint of the building industry.
At Edge Consultants, Élise focuses on energy modelling & building performance analysis for a wide range of buildings including mixed-use, residential, tertiary, and many more! On a day-to-day basis, she works with an interdisciplinary team to analyse newly developed projects, ensures they meet the current building code and suggests various improvements and solutions if needed.
