Sustainability Coordinator Position at Edge Consultants

About the role:

Edge Consultants are looking to hire a Sustainability Coordinator to support the firm’s growing Sustainability division.

The individual will support a client-facing team and coordinate tasks to achieve project sustainability goals. The ideal applicant for this position will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and demonstrate the capability of collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams. Applicants should be passionate about sustainability, and self-directed, with an ability to produce high-quality work products.

The Sustainability Coordinator position at Edge Consultants is a junior/entry-level role and based in Vancouver, British Columbia.  

This is what a typical week will include:

  • Support Sustainability Lead in consultancy and analysis roles for rating systems such as LEED, WELL, REAP, etc.
  • Research, understand, and interpret sustainability requirements from subject-specific and other resources with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate sustainability requirements to clients and project team members.
  • Develop reports, presentations, illustrations, and other content matter for project team members and clients.
  • Collaborate with project team members (including in-house staff) to obtain deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Execute project workflows, such as:
    • Review of the specification language
    • Periodic sustainability check-ins
    • Documentation review to achieve project sustainability goals.
  • Liaise with authorities, clients, other consultants, and contractors to achieve project sustainability goals.
  • Develop in-house trackers, tools, and workflows to aid the sustainability process from project inception to achieving certification.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Higher education in relevant fields such as environmental science, engineering, or other qualifications or an unrelated qualification combined with relevant work experience in the construction industry.
  • Rating tool accreditations such as LEED Green Associate, LEED Accredited Professional (AP) and WELL AP are highly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present concepts and ideas to clients and project team members.
  • Capability to interface with corporate real estate companies, general contractors, and consultants with strong client-facing and time management skills.
  • A personable character with the ability to foster good working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Confident in the use of Microsoft Excel to create tools and resources to manage workflows, data, and information.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Adobe Illustrator, or PowerPoint for report writing presentations and illustrations.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building rating tools such as LEED, WELL, REAP, City of Vancouver sustainable design requirements, etc.
  • Knowledge of building performance simulation, daylight analysis, and lifecycle analysis is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the building construction industry and project team dynamics is considered an asset.
  • Applications with greater experience qualifications than those required for a junior role will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Expected annual base salary of $55,000-$75,000.
  • Additional annual bonuses in the region of 10% of base salary.
  • Enrollment in health benefits program.
  • 9 days working fortnight.
  • 15 paid vacation days.
  • Plus, additional paid time off over holiday period (approx. 5 days).
